John, just over a week ago, both Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff won their runoff races in Georgia, officially flipping the Senate to a Democratic majority.
Like many, I wanted to celebrate these historic wins. But in the wake of this great news, Donald Trump incited a violent terror attack on the U.S. Capitol—based off of dangerous, baseless lies that the election was rigged.
Here’s the truth: Joe Biden won the presidency. Period.
I join you in still reeling from this horrific attack, and we cannot begin to move on until Donald Trump is held accountable. But I also don’t want to lose the opportunity to recognize this important moment we have in front of us.
In just six days, President Biden and Vice President Harris will be inaugurated. And they’re going to have a Democratic majority Senate and House and ready to get to work on the issues we care most about.
Together we can pass significant COVID-19 relief, immediate action on climate change, improvements to our childcare system, and so, so much more.
For too long, bills that would make a significant difference in the lives of working people have collected dust on Majority Leader McConnell’s desk. That ends now.
