Happy NeW year! Last year, we celebrated the 100th anniversary of women in America winning the right to vote. 2020 was a historic year for conservative women. Justice Amy Coney Barrett became the fifth woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, the first mother of school-aged children to do so. And more women than ever were elected to the 117th Congress, thanks in part to a double-digit increase in newly-elected Republican women in the House. And Senator Kamala Harris will become the first woman to serve as Vice President of the United States.
As we begin 2021, it is a fitting time to reflect on what women should be fighting for in America today and the role of conservative women in leading the way.
At the Network of enlightened Women, we have deemed 2021 “The Year of the Conservative Woman” to highlight the important role conservative women play in society, shift the perception of what it means to be a conservative woman and how conservative policies benefit women, and show how conservative women lead in their spheres of influence, in our country, and around the world. Through this effort, more women will see the value of conservative principles and policies.
With so much recent success for conservative women in politics, media, business, and beyond, 2021 is the year for conservative women to stand up proudly.
We are creating a positive environment to inspire conservative women to engage publicly (something often not seen on college campuses), which we expect will result in more students speaking out in defense of their beliefs on campus and more women gaining leadership positions.
As part of the Year of the Conservative Woman, we will highlight conservative and independent-minded women in a variety of fields and industries through our “Conservative Woman of the Month” programming. This month, we are thrilled to honor Christina Bain for her incredible work combatting human trafficking. Bain founded and directed the Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery programs at Harvard University’s Kennedy School and Babson College. Through these programs, she has led efforts to create data-driven public policy solutions to human trafficking as well as to train the next generation of business leaders in business and entrepreneurial solutions in the fight against human trafficking.
Throughout 2021, we look forward to celebrating 11 other inspiring conservative women, like Bain, who are leaders in their respective fields in addition to other empowering programming, so stay tuned and be sure you are following us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to get all the latest updates.
Sincerely,
Kathryn Alford Communications Manager for NeW
