To the Good People of New York’s 9th Congressional District,

After a tumultuous week and a half here in the United States Congress, I am back in the nation’s capital fighting to preserve the integrity of our precious democracy and our national security.

As you may know, the U.S. Capitol was attacked by an insurgent group of domestic terrorists last Wednesday. President Trump and members of the Republican Party encouraged this day of abhorrent behavior, choosing to issue dog whistles instead of the deliberate condemnation that would’ve been second nature to any of his predecessors. In return, the livelihood and safety of Members of Congress, Capitol Police, staffers were at risk.

I am mortified that such violence took place in the halls of Congress, which has historically been a safe space to govern for Members and all those who work and visit. I am even more disturbed that a sitting United States President would incite violence on his own Vice President and lawmakers who were elected to protect the rule of law.

Each day of President Trump’s time in office has been a threat to the American people and our democracy. I stand firm in my vote in favor of the immediate impeachment and removal of President Trump, who has proven himself to be an unfit, unstable and dangerous leader.

In addition, the Republican Members of Congress who backed these violent terrorists must be held accountable. I’m proud to support Congresswoman Cori Bush (MO-01)’s call to investigate and remove these members from Congress. Elected officials are not above the rule of law.

I won’t stop fighting for change until this Administration and the Republican Party are held accountable for their negligence.

As life with the coronavirus continues, it is crucial that we remain vigilant in fighting its spread. Thank you for all the sacrifices you have made to keep yourselves, your families and our community safe. Please remember to wear your mask, adhere to social distancing rules and only partake in essential activities. Together, we will beat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Please see below for details on testing sites and vaccine rollout details in our city. We are New York Strong.

In good health,

Yvette D. Clarke
Member of Congress

COVID-19 Vaccine Updates for All New Yorkers:

A safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine is now available in New York City that will help us end the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be easily available to all New Yorkers at no cost.

Where are we now?
Starting Monday, January 11, certain groups in Phase 1B are eligible to get the free COVID-19 vaccine, including people 65 and older, select groups of at risk New Yorkers, and a range of frontline essential workers. This includes: teachers and education workers, including childcare staff, first responders, public safety workers, public transit workers, food and grocery store workers, and New Yorkers experiencing homelessness who reside in congregate settings as well as staff.

Phase 1A priority groups also continue to be eligible for vaccines including healthcare workers and staff with direct patient contact, emergency responders, staff at COVID-19 testing and vaccination locations, home health aides, and long-term care staff and residents, among others.

Learn more about who is currently eligible for vaccination.

If you are eligible in Phase 1A or 1B, you can make an appointment now to get your vaccine. Use the NYC Vaccine Finder to find a location near you — you must reserve your vaccine appointment in advance! Additional COVID-19 vaccine sites will be added as they are available. You can also make an appointment by phone by calling 1-877-VAX-4NYC.

Who is up next?
As more Phase 1B groups are determined eligible by New York State, NYC will make that information available to you. We expect that additional groups eligible in Phase 1B will likely include other frontline essential workers and additional groups of high risk New Yorkers, among others. Learn more about the planned phases for vaccine distribution.

What about me?
As more doses become available, additional groups of New Yorkers will be eligible to receive the vaccine. Once eligible you will be able to make a vaccine appointment at many locations throughout the city using the NYC Vaccine Finder or by calling 1-877-VAX-4NYC. We will soon launch an online tool to help you determine if you are eligible for a vaccine. Check back here for additional updates or text COVID to 692-692 to receive real-time updates on vaccine distribution.

Vaccine Command Center
The NYC COVID-19 Vaccine Command Center is a dedicated interagency effort created by the Mayor's Office to coordinate vaccine distribution throughout the city.

The Center will ensure all New Yorkers have up-to-date information about the vaccine and its benefits. To build trust in a safe and effective vaccine, the Center will deploy outreach teams to provide science-based facts and address misinformation. These teams also will coordinate with elected officials and community leaders on neighborhood vaccination drives.

The Center will provide rapid response for public and private partners, including urgent cares, private pharmacies, hospitals and community vaccination sites.

Learn more about COVID-19 vaccine developments, including health and safety information and who is now able to receive the vaccine.

Tracking Data
Through the Center, the City is closely monitoring how many vaccine doses have been:

  1. Reserved by the federal government for NYC
  2. Delivered to NYC
  3. Given to people in NYC

Get up-to-date COVID-19 vaccine data about how vaccine distribution is progressing in New York City.

Interagency Expertise
The Vaccine Command Center is led by Deputy Mayor Melanie Hartzog and NYC Health Commissioner Dave Chokshi, but it brings together experts from across city government. More than a dozen City agencies will conduct operations through the Center, including the Health Department, Health + Hospitals, Emergency Management, the Mayor's Office and the Task Force on Racial Equity.
