Friends — Today we are calling on the expulsion of Senators Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley for their despicable roles as instigators and defenders of the violent attack against the U.S. Capitol earlier this month.
Their repeated decisions to betray the sanctity of open and fair elections and attempts to subvert the will of the people should mean they, too, are labeled as insurrectionists in the pages of our future history books, and they must be removed from office. If you’re with us, please, add your name today:
Anyone who aided the insurrection at the Capitol should be removed from office, and no two were louder in the Republican scramble to claim credit for the violence that played out the morning Congress met to certify the 2020 election results than Senators Cruz and Hawley.
Even as it was immediately clear to all of us that the attack was carried out by domestic terrorists, Senators Cruz and Hawley still cast their deeply unpatriotic votes to undermine, and cause irreparable damage to, our election system just a few hours later. Even after their peers and colleagues fled and barricaded themselves in their offices with furniture and prayed, even after Donald Trump fanned the flames of violence from behind his Twitter account.
Even after all that, Senators Cruz and Hawley betrayed our nation with their votes to silence the voice of America’s voters. Now, we are calling for their expulsion from the Senate — and of anyone else who joined them in shamefully compromising our country on that day.
Add your name if you agree: Insurrectionists have no place in the halls of our Congress, Senators Cruz and Hawley must be removed.
