Washington, DC - OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates commends all members of the House of Representatives that voted in favor to impeach President Trump on the grounds of “incitement of insurrection.”
Last week’s insurrection at the Capitol stemmed from encouragement by President Trump via social media and from his rally. The siege resulted in civilian and Capitol Police casualties, the lives of staff/aides/Members of Congress endangered, members of Congress exposed to COVID-19, destruction of government property, and a clear sign of disregard for a peaceful and democratic transition of power.
“The country is in turmoil. The solution to this crisis should not be deemed partisan,” states Linda Ng, National President of OCA. “This is the first time in our country’s history that a President has incited violence to disrupt the peaceful transition of power and endangered so many lives. It is evident that President Trump has not held the interests of democracy and the public in regard. He must be held accountable for his actions because no one is above the rule of law.”
OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates is a national civil rights organization dedicated to improving the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs).
