John –
Last night, I addressed some of the most pressing issues facing South
Carolinians. John, I would like to share some of the highlights from this
important address with you.

This past year has presented unforeseeable obstacles that our nation has had
to navigate. My wife, Peggy, and I express our deepest sympathies to those who
have been directly affected by this pandemic.
But, despite the challenges, South Carolina has never shut down – and we've
maintained the personal freedoms of South Carolinians, protected in our
constitution.
I am proud of the work our state has done during the COVID-19 pandemic and
hopeful for our future. Here are just a few areas we have tackled:
* I created accelerateSC – a task force dedicated to organizing our state's
response to COVID-19, quickly, and in a way that kept our businesses open and
kept South Carolinians safe in the classroom and workplace.
* We provided small business financial relief, in the way of grants –
especially to those in the service and hospitality industries.
* We protected our people's rights – unlike other states – by not forbidding
families to go to church or gather for holidays.
* We froze new government spending, in order to avoid cutting services,
raising taxes, or borrowing money. While recognizing what we have been able to
accomplish, I know that there is still work that must be done.
It remains a top priority for the future growth of South Carolina to cut
taxes on people and small businesses. Also, parents need classrooms and schools
open; parentsshould not be forced between their jobs and their children.
John, I have so much hope for the growth and rebuilding of our great state,
and I know together, we can forge through these times together.
Yours very truly,
