Yesterday afternoon, Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced a formal impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump over reports that he abused his presidential powers and sought information from Ukraine on a political opponent.

This is a huge step forward in finally holding the president accountable for his actions.

But it wouldn’t have been possible without the support of key Texas representatives -- folks like Representative Joaquín Castro, Rep. Al Green, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Rep. Verónica Escobar, Rep. Marc Veasey, Rep. Filemon Vela, and Rep. Lloyd Doggett.

I know this wasn’t an easy decision for a lot of representatives, and we need to show them that we’ve got their backs.

So I’m asking you to join me in supporting the Texas Democrats who are taking a stand for what’s right and calling for a formal impeachment inquiry.

In times like these, we need people willing to take courageous action, and that’s exactly what these Texas representatives have done.

They know this is about so much more than partisan politics -- this is about making sure that everyone knows that no one is above the law, not even the president.
