Some Manitoba paramedics now eligible for COVID-19 vaccine

The Manitoba government has expanded the COVID-19 immunization eligibility criteria to include professionals who work in emergency response services, born on or before Dec. 31, 1975.
In a news release published Saturday, the province said this includes paramedics, emergency medical responders, nurses and respiratory therapists who perform emergency response services and those who work in patient transportation by land and air.

Crown suggests former Hamilton paramedic on trial participated 'in a dangerous lift'

The Crown suggested that one of two former Hamilton paramedics, who are both charged with failing to provide the necessaries of life to a gunshot victim in 2017, participated “in a dangerous lift.”
Counsel Scott Patterson asked the accused Christopher Marchant why he didn’t stop a Hamilton police officer from lifting Yosif Al-Hasnawi by his arms from the concrete sidewalk after he was shot over three years ago on Sanford Avenue near Main Street East.

Nearly one quarter of all employees at a city call centre that dispatches paramedics to 911 calls have either tested positive for COVID-19 or been instructed to self-isolate following an exposure to a positive case.
Toronto Paramedics Services spokesperson Dineen Robinson says that 12 staff members at Toronto's Central Ambulance Communications Centre have tested positive for the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, though two of them have since recovered and returned to work.

Paramedics using remote monitoring to help with COVID-19 outbreak at Caressant Care

A program launched by local paramedics in 2016 to monitor patients with chronic diseases in their homes, is helping to fill a gap in staffing at Caressant Care in Arthur, Ontario, as COVID-19 is spreading through the facility.
Caressant Care Arthur has been in outbreak in the retirement wing since Dec. 12 and the long-term care wing since Dec. 26.

Paramedics test positive; COVID-19 outbreak declared at Essex-Windsor EMS base
