Last week, just as we were learning of progressive victories in Georgia, an armed insurrection in our nation's capital reminded us just how fragile our democracy is. I'm still furious and frustrated—but I'm more committed than ever to preserving our democracy and advancing a progressive agenda. John, I know you are, too. That's why I'm calling on you now to join me in a show of solidarity and support for the progressive agenda of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. I ask that you add your name to our pledge today as a staunch supporter and protector of our democracy and raise your hand as someone who will join our collective efforts to advance a progressive agenda. There is no mistaking who bears responsibility for the disgraceful violence that took place in Washington, D.C.: The twice-impeached President and his enablers inside and outside of Congress. Just hours before violent and armed insurrectionists and white supremacists forced their way into the Capitol building, President Trump encouraged and rallied with these extremists. It was shocking to watch. As we saw later that night, no act of violence, from these seditionists or anyone else, will change the election results. The American people have selected Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to be our next president and vice president. The Electoral College has voted, and Congress has faithfully persisted certifying the votes. (They then moved forward yesterday to impeach the President for an unprecedented second time.) Now, we must continue to fight for progressive values and ideas that make life better for ALL Americans. In a few days, President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will make history and be sworn into office. And I want to be sure our coalition of dedicated progressive advocates is up to date. Please take just a minute and join me. Please take just a minute and join me.
