Suicide Prevention in
Healthcare Settings
As part of our Project 2025 goal to reduce the national suicide rate, AFSP isfocused on preventing suicide in relation to emergency department and healthsystem engagement. Many people who are suicidal find themselves in emergencydepartments or are hospitalized, in part because clinicians may not feelconfident in their ability to effectively evaluate and treat them. We invitehealthcare professionals* and all those interested — individuals, family andcommunity members — to join us for “Project 2025 – Raising Awareness forSuicide Treatment,” a new webinar in partnership with CAMS-care, which willoffer evidence-based best practices for optimal clinical suicide prevention.
Moderated by Dr. Jill Harkavy-Friedman, AFSP’s vice president of research, thepresentation will feature a lively interactive discussion from a range ofexpert perspectives, including Christine Moutier, M.D., AFSP's chief medicalofficer; David Jobes, Ph.D., professor of psychology at The CatholicUniversity of America; and Ms. Diana Cortez Yanez, a leading voice from thelived-experience perspective.
Topics will include:
evidence-based suicide assessments
suicide-focused treatments
the use of medications
decreasing malpractice risk through sound clinical practice
We hope you will join us at 2 – 4 p.m. ET, Tuesday, February 2
