This past June in the aftermath of another national incident, we issued a statement based on Micah 6:8—
“He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?”

During the months and weeks leading up to the fall election, we especially encouraged Christians to follow the principles in II Chronicles 7:14—
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Today, we stand by these Scriptural injunctions and implore Christians in our home state and across the country to be circumspect, wise, prudent and prayerful as we respond both publicly and privately to the events that took place in our nation’s capital (and capitol) last week.

Thank you—and an update!

Earlier this week we sent out two rush emails when we learned about the State Senate going to the floor in just hours to vote on a bill that did not include language on at least two important issues–language that had been included in the Assembly version of the bill, AB 1. The two issues were
1) limiting the authority of the state (in particular the Department of Health Services) and/or local health officials from closing places of worship and/or limiting capacity during COVID-19, and
2) prohibiting employers, the Department of Health Services, and local health authorities from mandating the COVID-19 vaccine.

Abortion in Wisconsin—the FACTS

THE FACTS: The number of induced abortions reported for Wisconsin residents in 2019 was 6,372, an increase of five percent over the 6,042 induced abortions reported in 2018. The total number of induced abortions reported as occurring in Wisconsin in 2019 was 6,511, an increase of 287, close to a five percent increase over the 6,224 induced abortions reported in 2018.

Of the 6,372 reported induced abortions among Wisconsin residents in 2019, 66 percent were surgical, 33 percent were chemically induced.

Women in the age group 20-24 accounted for the largest proportion (29.5 percent) of reported induced abortions for Wisconsin residents in 2019. Thirteen and a half percent of reported induced abortions were for women 35 years of age or older. Those aged 18-19 obtained almost eight percent of the reported induced abortions, and those aged 15-17 obtained almost three percent.

THE TRUTH: Any increase in the number of abortions in our state is disheartening because we know it represents not potential life but human life with potential. One measure we watch closely is how marriage impacts abortion. Once again marriage was a pretty good inoculator against a woman having an abortion, with just thirteen percent of abortions obtained by currently married women.

This Saturday, January 16 is Religious Freedom Day

Each year since 1993, the President declares January 16 “Religious Freedom Day,” and calls upon Americans to “observe this day through appropriate events and activities in homes, schools, and places of worship.” January 16 is the anniversary of the passage of the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom in 1786, drafted by Thomas Jefferson and relied on heavily by those who drafted our US Constitution. Since January 16 is a Saturday this year, families, schools and churches should use this week to educate everyone about the importance of religious freedom in  a civil society.

Our founders called religious freedom the “first freedom” because they knew it was the foundational freedom on which all other freedoms rest. Religious freedom is in the crosshairs of many right now, and we may well see more aggressive moves against itin the coming days. Now is the time for us to do everything we can to help people understand why it must be preserved and protected.

Wisconsin Family Action fights for religious freedom right here on the front lines of our state and at the national level. Supreme Court Halts Mail-Order Abortion Pill

From LifeActionNews:
"The Supreme Court has ruled that women must receive the abortion pill regimen in person, at an abortion facility, putting an end to dangerous mail-order abortions of mifepristone (brand name Mifeprex), also known as RU-486. The ruling affirms that the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) in-person abortion pill distribution requirements will remain in place, though as recently as October 2020, the Supreme Court “refused to rule on a request from the Food and Drug Administration to reinstate a rule banning the distribution of abortion pills by mail,” according to a previous report by Live Action News."

Julaine Appling, WFA president, says, "This court decision bodes well on several levels. First, in a general sense it gives us hope that the conservative justices on the court understand the right of states to regulate abortion and that this court could one day decide a case that will overturn Roe v. Wade.  However, in a narrower sense, this ruling really protects women. RU-486 is a potent drug and is not without side effects, some of which are very serious."
