2021 has the potential to be the most important year in history for the environment. We have an environmental majority in the House and Senate. We have a champion in the White House. Our margins may be slim —
but this is our last, best chance, friend. We have to fight like our lives depend on it, because they do.
That means fighting to rejoin the Paris Agreement on Day One. It means passing a serious plan to tackle climate change. And it means putting the people most affected — Black, Latinx, and Indigenous communities — at the center of the benefits and solutions.
We can pull this off — I promise, friend — but we need your help. At LCV, January marks our annual Membership Drive. It's our most important fundraising effort of the year. How much we raise in the coming days and weeks defines how big our campaigns can be to block Trump's final attacks on the environment — and to make history once Biden takes office.
The best thing you can do right now is renew your LCV membership for 2021. Right now, all it takes is $5.
If you contribute as part of the campaign, a group of donors will triple match your contribution — and any contribution you make this year.
Renew your LCV membership today — it only costs $5. Anything you can afford to contribute will make a huge difference »
We are all still reeling from the horrific act of terrorism that took place at the Capitol last week. We're pushing to ensure Trump and other disgraced elected officials who fanned the flames of white supremacy and anti-democracy are held accountable. But even as Congress considers impeachment, we're facing major environmental emergencies coming out of the Trump administration in his final days in office.
We're reaching out because there are so many reasons to renew your LCV membership for 2021 right now. Here are just a few:
- Because Big Oil has never been this close to drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. This is land that is sacred to the Indigenous Gwich'in people — and land they have led the fight to protect. Drilling will forever alter their way of life. We need to get this land under permanent protection — but the drilling leases were just finalized. Stopping it now is going to take a major effort from the environmental movement. Be a part of it »
- Because there's a mad rush to sell off protected federal land before Trump leaves office. A uranium mine in South Dakota. A copper mine in protected Apache territory in Arizona. Helium drilling in Utah wilderness. An open-pit lithium mine in Nevada. Each of these efforts are barreling forward in the final days of Trump's presidency. We have to stop these projects, but it has to be now. Pitch in today »
- Because the Trump administration just finalized a rule trying to block the EPA from using vast swaths of scientific data in creating rules to protect public health and the environment. The new rule could tie the hands of Biden's EPA unless we fight now to turn the effort around. Please — be a part of the fight »
- Because we just won an environmental majority in the Senate. Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff both made history last week, and now we're finally going to have a shot — a real shot — at passing a serious plan to tackle climate change. This is the environmental movement's now-or-never moment. We must make the first 100 days of the Biden administration transformational. Are you on board? Let's make it happen »
- Because if you donate as part of the 2021 Membership Drive, your contribution will be tripled. And not just this contribution — but any donation you make to LCV in 2021. It's a smart way to maximize your impact for the environment this year »
- Because membership is only $5 right now. Seriously — any amount helps. Give $5 and claim your membership today »
Thank you — sincerely — for being a part of this movement, friend. We're going to get through this together.
