The TPPF Take: The so-called ESG (environmental, social and governance) movement will hurt American companies—and everyday Americans—in the long run.
“Energy discrimination wrongly bullies corporations into ignoring their duty to provide profitability for shareholders, in order to appease a vocal minority of progressive activists,” says TPPF’s Jason Isaac. “And some major firms are capitulating. Efforts to divest from fossil fuels would yield no significant environmental benefits but come with an extreme economic cost.”
The TPPF Take: Now is a terrible time to consider defunding the police. Our focus should be on making our cities safer.
“The last thing we want to do is defund the police,” says TPPF’s Currie Myers, a retired sheriff. “That doesn’t mean there aren’t things we can do better. Everyone needs to work together to ensure that law enforcement is a positive part of government.”
The TPPF Take: Every Texan is counting on the newly-convened legislature to provide further property tax reform and relief.
“Last session, state lawmakers overhauled Texas’ property tax system to better protect taxpayers against the predations of liberal local governments. This session, there’s more work to be done—especially in light of widespread economic misery and mass unemployment,” says TPPF’s James Quintero. “Struggling homeowners and businesses are looking to the legislature to continue making progress on tax reform and relief.”
The TPPF Take: Civics education is necessary to ensure a functioning republic.
“Civics education and history, rightly done, would employ a Founding-documents-based curriculum to focus on our polity’s core principles of human equality and individual liberty,” says TPPF’s Tom Lindsay. “This focus should proceed through examination of fundamental documents and major speeches
