We deserve a government that is by the people and for the people. What we have seen in the last two years by President Trump is undercutting this and threatening our democracy.

In the last few days alone, Trump has openly welcomed foreign help acquiring damaging information on a political opponent, and I’ve decided enough is enough. His recklessness is jeopardizing our national and electoral security for years to come. That is why I joined with Democratic colleagues to call for an impeachment inquiry. We must hold this President accountable when he abuses power for his own personal gain — our democracy depends on it.

This instance is only the latest in a long pattern of reckless and lawless behavior that puts our country and our democracy at risk.

A Congressional investigation is necessary to get the details on what happened between Trump and this foreign leader. The House is under Democratic control and we will be sure to do whatever we can to get to the bottom of this.
