Reference to youth work as an essential service has now been included in the most recent set of Covid-related Regulations

Hello John,

Further to Tuesday's update, I am pleased to share the communication below from the Dept. of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth confirming that:

'explicit reference to youth work as an essential service has now been included in the most recent set of Covid-related Regulations'

This very important recognition of youth work as an essential service is in no small part down to the incredible work of youth organisations and youth workers, which has proven how essential the supports you provide are.

We will be continuing to work with Government officials on your behalf and as ever, if you have any questions or feedback in the meantime let me know.

Warmest regards,

Mary

COMMUNICATION FROM DCEDIY:

Dear Colleagues,

For your information, following engagement between this Department and relevant government colleagues, explicit reference to youth work as an essential service has now been included in the most recent set of Covid-related Regulations, as provided for by S.I. No. 4 of 2021 Health Act 1947 (Section 31A - Temporary Restrictions) (COVID-19) (No. 10) (Amendment) Regulations 2021.

The list of Essential Services on the website of the Department of the Taoiseach has accordingly being updated to include “youth work services, within the meaning of the Youth Work Act 2001 (No. 42 of 2001), that cannot be provided remotely”: [link removed][UNIQID] ([link removed][UNIQID])
