Friend,

Today I voted to impeach President Trump for inciting an insurrection against the United States government. The attack that took place just one week ago was an attempt to undermine our democracy by violently overturning a free and fair election. For too long, President Trump has fanned the flames of division in our country by spreading lies and encouraging violence, and the events of January 6th are the result of his repeated provocations. Trump and those who abetted this insurrection must be held accountable.

I hope that my vote today is the first step towards unifying the divides and healing the wounds inflicted on our country over the past four years. But let me be clear - we cannot come together until we denounce the actions of this president and remove him from office.

I will always stand up to protect our country and our common values. My vote today is a vote for these values we all hold dear - truth, democracy, respect, and peace.
