Mr. O’Toole has made it a theme of his campaign to “Take back Canada” — and he raised no concerns with his party’s Deputy Leader choosing to wear a camouflage cap emblazoned with “Make America Great Again.”
Canadians want leadership that brings people together, friend.
And yet as we start 2021, Canadians are disappointed to see Erin O’Toole’s Conservatives continuing a worrisome pattern of divisive politics and catering to the extreme right.
Mr. O’Toole has made it a theme of his campaign to “Take back Canada” – and he raised no concerns with his party’s Deputy Leader choosing to wear a camouflage cap emblazoned with “Make America Great Again.”
The Conservative Party’s website has also been falsely stating that Justin Trudeau is “rigging the next election,” and just this week, it was reported that Mr. O’Toole’s office facilitated an email interview for him with ‘The Rebel’ – which the Canadian Press has previously described as “an organization increasingly linked with the alt-right.”
It’s unfortunate that Erin O’Toole’s Conservatives are doubling down on deeply divisive politics, instead of focusing on positive solutions to make life better for Canadian families. It needs to be taken seriously, and it’s another reminder of what’s at stake for Canadians as we start 2021.
Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team are focused on bold action to protect Canadians’ health, create new jobs, protect a clean environment, and build a more fair and inclusive Canada – but in a minority Parliament, we know that we can never take our progress for granted. If you’re able, friend, will you chip in today to reject far-right politics and help us keep Canada moving forward?
Chip in now to support Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team, and help ensure we start 2021 strong.
