Hi,

Donald Trump just became the only president in our history to be impeached twice.

Today, by a bipartisan vote, Trump was impeached on the charges of incitement of insurrection. Justice has begun to be served. And our movement has never mattered more.

These past four years, we've watched in horror as Trump dragged our country through catastrophe after catastrophe -- culminating in last week's assault on our Capitol, our Constitution, and our people. Never, in our history, has a sitting president posed a greater existential threat to our country. Now, I can only hope that the Senate will do the right thing, and follow through by urgently removing Trump from office.

The Trump era will go down as a dark time in American history. Today, Democrats pursued accountability and showed there must be consequences for Trump's dangerous actions.

Trump's reign of terror is done.

One way or another, his days in the White House will shortly come to a close. But we still have our work cut out for us. Texas Republicans -- Ted Cruz chief among them -- have stood by Trump's most outlandish actions, incited the same assaults on our democracy, and ripped the lid off the white supremacist extreme right. They are playing with fire, and it's up to us to counter the danger they've unleashed.

It's up to us to help our country find the way forward.
