We are calling on the Senate to swiftly convict Donald Trump.

Hello,

Last week, the world watched in horror as thousands of armed white nationalists, at the direction of the president, stormed the United States Capitol in a treasonous attack that left five people dead. Today, we support the decision from the House of Representatives to impeach Donald J. Trump for a second time — and stand with our 17 Collective-endorsed members of the House who voted in favor of impeachment and continue to lead calls for his immediate removal from office.

Unity cannot happen without justice. After years of peddling baseless conspiracy theories and amplifying white nationalism, the outgoing president and his enablers in the sedition caucus must be held accountable for inciting this violence by far-right extremists, attempting to overturn a free and fair election, and putting the lives of their colleagues at risk. The January 6th coup attempt will forever serve as a reminder of the fragile nature of our democracy and the dark culmination of the disastrous, dangerous, and racist Trump presidency.

We call on Mitch McConnell to quit playing political games and putting party over democracy. He must reconvene the Senate to swiftly convict Donald Trump in order to begin the next chapter of America — healing, saving our broken democracy, and reckoning with the longstanding racism and injustices that made last week’s attack possible.

Collectively, we will win,

Quentin and Stefanie Brown James
