In the wake of the siege of the U.S Capitol, an attempted coup aimed at
overturning the legitimate results of a free and fair election, People For
is leading a long-term campaign to end attacks on our democracy and stamp
out the incitement and encouragement of white supremacist violence by
far-right political leaders.

First order of business: we’re fighting to remove Trump from office
immediately. Donald Trump started the lie that gave birth to the
insurrectionist movement embraced by his most fervent supporters and
poured gasoline on the fire at every turn, including directly inciting the
deadly riot that stormed and breached the seat of American democracy.

We’re working to make sure every far-right terrorist who invaded the
Capitol is arrested and charged to the fullest extent of the law.

We’re pursuing various mechanisms of accountability for Trump’s enablers
in Congress who also helped incite violent sedition by promoting Trump’s
lies and conspiracy theories and using dangerous rhetoric to rile up their
supporters towards insurrection. Our tools include public pressure,
congressional censures, accountability at the ballot box, and pushing for
criminal prosecution where appropriate.

And we’re going all-in with the investigative capabilities of People For’s
Right Wing Watch – the country’s premier team of researchers and reporters
tracking and exposing the Far Right movement – to pull every thread and
find the connections between elected officials and members of law
enforcement and the white supremacists, neofascists, and other seditious
groups behind the January 6 insurrection, and other insurrectionist
activity still being planned.

All of this work to hold far-right traitors accountable is VITAL to ending
the rise and normalization of violent extremism. And it’s resource
intensive – we need organizers, investigators, robust media strategies and
more.

We’re working around the clock to pull all the pieces together but we need
