You're invited: California tax officials to discuss Proposition 19
We thought you’d like to know about this agenda item for the State Board of Equalization’s meeting on Thursday and Friday, January 14-15.
The board will hear a presentation on questions and issues related to Proposition 19, “The Home Protection for Seniors, Severely Disabled, Families, and Victims of Wildfire or Natural Disasters Act of 2020,” which was approved by voters in the November 3 election. This is a public meeting, and you can watch it online at this link: http://www.boe.ca.gov/meetings/
The presentation is scheduled for Thursday’s meeting, which begins at 10:00 a.m., and further discussion is on the agenda for Friday’s meeting, which also begins at 10:00 a.m. The agenda can be found at this link: https://boe.ca.gov/meetings/pdf/2021/011421-PAN-Jan.pdf
The board plans to discuss proposed draft legislation to implement the measure, guidance and rule-making, forms and processes, and a communications plan for public outreach.
As you know, HJTA opposed Proposition 19 because it changed the State Constitution to remove protections from tax increases when property is transferred within families. We are working hard and exploring all options to reverse this damaging outcome.
Sincerely,
Jon Coupal
President, HJTA
