Hi John,

Donald Trump remains a danger to our democracy. I have called on him to resign and for Vice President Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment, but if they both fail to meet these demands, the House will vote to impeach Trump for his high crimes and misdemeanors.

The sitting president used the powers of his office to incite a violent mob to storm the Capitol. Section 3 of the 14th Amendment states:

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.

As my colleagues and I were certifying the 2020 election, Trump was on stage inciting violence and encouraging a large crowd in DC to “stop the steal.” He told his supporters, “If you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore.”

Donald Trump is a threat to our country -- and we cannot risk the chance of him running in 2024 or ever again.

That is why I cosponsored the article of impeachment and will vote to impeach Trump again.

I remain committed to protecting our democracy and the will of the American people.

I hope I have your support. If you haven't already, please take the survey my team prepared to collect your thoughts: https://s.surveyplanet.com/kzJZqQcvl

I will keep you updated,
Mary Gay
