A week after he incited a violent mob to overrun the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to overturn the election, President Donald Trump has still shown no signs of contrition for his unprecedented assault on our Constitution and our democracy.
Yesterday, he said his words that day were "totally appropriate." Let's be very clear: the president and his allies told their supporters a Big Lie about the outcome of the presidential election -- and then incited an attack on the U.S. Capitol based on that lie.
Today, the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on an article of impeachment for this president over his role in inciting this insurrection.
Support is building for his removal. Last night, the number-three House Republican, Congresswoman Liz Cheney announced she would vote to impeach. And Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell signaled that he may support impeachment -- with press reports that he is 'pleased' Democrats are moving forward to impeach Trump.
We need to keep up the pressure and demand clear, bipartisan support for removing this president from office. Add your name to join me in calling for a broad repudiation of Donald Trump and his immediate removal >>

This president incited a mob attack on the citadel of American government by spinning conspiracy theories and lies. We must hold him accountable.
That starts today.
