As a result of the violence at the Capitol just hours after Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock were declared the winners in Georgia’s Senate runoffs, we didn’t get the chance to truly recognize these historic victories.
Democrats finally flipped the Senate and elected a Senate Majority that will listen to scientists and use evidence-based policymaking as their guide to navigate the challenges of this year and those to come.
In the past three years, the five Democratic pickups in the Senate that led to this moment were all endorsed and supported by us: computer scientist Jacky Rosen in 2018, astronaut Mark Kelly and geologist John Hickenlooper in 2020, as well as Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock (who we broke from tradition to support because of the impact those races would have on federal climate, healthcare, environmental, and pandemic response related policies).
Republicans only need to flip a single Senate seat and a handful of House seats to flip both chambers next year:
That’s why we’re asking if you’ll donate to power our work so we can re-elect more than a dozen Democratic scientists in the House (many who are Frontline Members) as well as re-elect both Mark Kelly and Raphael Warnock in the Senate.
If you’ve stored your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will process immediately.
In Georgia, 58 of the 68 counties we targeted resulted in significant Democratic gains in November and December, flipping two of the counties Jon Ossoff didn’t carry in the general but did in January.
In Colorado and Arizona, we worked alongside Mark Kelly and John Hickenlooper’s teams to reach
millions of voters and connect their campaigns with supporters and volunteers from the very day
they launched through to Election Day. We know — it seems early to be talking about 2022 already!
But what these results proved — and it’s what Stacey Abrams has been saying for years — is that
if Democrats want to win then we have to invest early and aggressively. These races will come down to razor-thin margins. Whether or not we, or the Republicans, come out on top in these races depends on laying that critical groundwork and infrastructure early.
On behalf of our vulnerable Frontline members in the House, our newly elected Senators, the incredible local and state STEM candidates on the ground, as well as the STEM professionals exploring running:
Can we count on your support so we can continue to elect and re-elect the scientists who helped Democrats flip the House and the Senate?
Thank you — Supporters like you who invest early are an indispensable part of our efforts.
