Today, I will cast my vote to impeach Donald Trump for inciting the insurrection that led to loss of life and destruction of property, and threatened our nation’s sacred democratic institutions last week.

It’s clear that President Trump’s words and actions led to the assault on our Capitol -- and he has refused to back down on his harmful rhetoric even since then. His actions are shameful, dangerous, and treasonous. He must face the consequences.

When I asked you what the top priority should be for the incoming Biden-Harris Administration, over 40% of Team Connolly was most concerned with holding Trump and right-wing extremists accountable. Republicans encouraged an insurrection and Donald Trump fueled mob violence to overturn a democratic election. Every single person who participated in the storm on the Capitol on Wednesday must be held accountable -- and that starts with the man who brought them all there.
