It's been exactly one week since Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff were elected to the U.S. Senate in Georgia. For the first time in over a decade, the U.S. Senate, the House of Representatives, and the White House will now be controlled by Democrats.
Though this past week's attempted coup in the Capitol and its aftermath continue to be front and center, we do want to acknowledge this momentous win, because it shows us what's possible when Democrats at every level work together.
Now that the Senate is in Democratic control, it's clear that the next two years are a critical time to get things done. Jamaal can't waste a single moment in his first term.
And while Jamaal is dedicated to fighting for our progressive agenda in Congress, we need our fundraising to keep up so that he can focus 100% of his time legislating.
We need to pass a federal minimum wage, federal jobs guarantee, a Green New Deal, Medicare for All, housing as a human right, humane criminal justice reform, and funding our public schools, just to name a few.
This is by far our best chance since 2009 to push and to get it done for our communities. There's no time to waste, which is why we need Jamaal 100% focused on legislating.
