January 2021 COLORADANS 70+ VACCINE DISTRIBUTION GOALS Today, Governor Polis was joined by Peter Banko, CEO of Centura Health, Dr. Richard Zane, UCHealth's Chief Innovation Officer, and John Santistevan, President & CEO of Salud Family Health Centers to provide an update on the State’s goals to vaccinate Coloradans in Phases 1A and 1B. The Governor reiterated that one of our main goals is to vaccinate 70% of Coloradans 70 years and older by February 28. Data reported by public health agencies has shown that Coloradans 70 and older account for nearly 80% of deaths in Colorado, which puts residents 70 and older squarely in the high-risk category for becoming severely ill, or, tragically, succumbing to the deadly virus. Partnerships with health providers throughout the state, like those with Centura Health, UCHealth, and Salud Family Health Centers, are one highly effective way for our state to ramp up capacity to vaccinate as many Coloradans as possible -- beginning with our highest-risk populations, and finally beat this pandemic. In conjunction with strong partnerships with state health providers, equitable allocation of the vaccine will be key to saving more lives. That’s why a certain percentage of the vaccine supply will be given to each type of provider: Hospitals: 50% Federally Qualified Health Partners: 20% Community Partners and Local Public Health Agencies: 20% Retail Pharmacies: 10% You can learn more about Colorado’s COVID-19 Vaccine Plan at covid19.colorado.gov/vaccine/vaccine-for-coloradans. VACCINE DISTRIBUTION PROCESS Governor Polis gave an update on Colorado's expected vaccine supply and frequency of vaccine shipments into the state. Currently, Colorado is expecting around 70,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses each week through January from the federal government. However, the number of doses allocated to the state can change depending on what the federal government can provide Colorado during a given week. Here’s a breakdown of the process: Each week, Operation Warp Speed notifies us of the exact number of vaccines we will receive for the following week. For example, we may receive a notice on a Sunday of our exact number of allocated vaccines delivered a week later. The State then has a few days to determine which providers vaccines will be allocated to. This week, the state was allocated: Pfizer vaccine (with 6th dose): 39,780 doses State's net allocation for this week: 16,380 Moderna vaccine: 36,300 doses State's net allocation for this week: 33,000 Colorado’s foremost challenge now is that each week, the state does not know how many vaccine doses the federal government can allocate to the state. Fortunately, we only have one more allocation of 23,400 doses that need to be reserved for the Long Term Care Facility Program, after which all long-term care and nursing home residents and staff will have access to the vaccine. The State remains hopeful that the incoming administration will send more doses for states to administer while providers work to increase their capacity to administer the vaccine to their patients. VACCINE PROVIDERS UPDATE Leaders of major health systems, Centura Health, UCHealth, and Salud Family Health Centers, joined Governor Polis today to brief Coloradans on their plans to expand access to vaccines and provided resources for Coloradans 70 and older. Centura Health: Centura is prepared to vaccinate 9,000 individuals this week and will scale their vaccine clinic operations across Colorado. Week of January 25: Centura’s capabilities will expand to 14,000 individuals per week. Week of February 8: Centura's capabilities will expand to 16,000 individuals per week. Beginning February 24 and for the foreseeable future, Centura will be able to provide 22,000+ vaccinations per week. To date, Centura has stood up 35 vaccine clinics across Colorado in community-based clinics and hospitals. “Health systems, including Centura Health, are ready and capable of scaling our operations to vaccinate all those who need a vaccine. We are thrilled to partner with the State and other health providers to make mass vaccination possible across Colorado, ” said Peter D. Banko, President & CEO of Centura Health. UCHealth: UCHealth’s focus is on vaccinating people 70 and older and providing second dose vaccinations to their health care workers who received their first dose back in December. UCHealth has several partnerships with assisted living facilities and clinics that serve underserved patients. UCHealth has administered more than 52,000 vaccines, including about 38,000 first doses and 14,000 second doses to their front line health care providers. UCHealth has provided a first dose of the vaccine to more than 12,000 seniors, and thousands more have appointments to be vaccinated over the next week. “We are beyond proud to vaccinate Colorado, and we are prepared to do so. We are ready to put COVID-19 in our rearview mirror,” said Dr. Richard Zane, UCHealth Chief Innovation Officer and Chair of Emergency Medicine at the CU School of Medicine. Salud Family Health Centers: Salud Family Health Centers is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center, providing integrated health care focusing on the underserved populations in our communities: To date, Salud has vaccinated 4,480 individuals. Salud is providing vaccine clinics in all of the 10 communities that they serve. Salud has built up the capacity to vaccinate 1,200 individuals per day. “We are stepping up to vaccinate as many people as possible as we can in the communities we serve. We will continue to be there for the state of Colorado and look forward to helping out in any way we can,” said John Santistevan, President & CEO of Salud Family Health Centers. COMMUNITY HEALTH PARTNER SPOTLIGHT Community partners are an essential part of Colorado’s vaccine distribution plan, receiving approximately 20% of our weekly allocations. Governor Polis provided an update on a recent mass vaccination clinic held at Zion Baptist Church in the Whittier neighborhood. At Zion Baptist Church, 150 congregates ages 70 and older were vaccinated. Colorado will continue to search for similar venues like Zion Baptist Church so that Coloradans who might not have access to a medical facility can still get the vaccine. The Governor applauded community partners’ dedication to protecting the health and safety of Coloradans and reminded Coloradans to make an even greater effort to practice good social distancing, wear masks, and stay six feet away from others until the vaccine can be widely distributed. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ Visit Website Office of Governor Jared Polis | 136 State Capitol , Denver, CO 80203 Unsubscribe [email protected] Update Profile | About our service provider Sent by [email protected]
