John, in the months after my sweet little Daniel's murder, I went from congressional office to congressional office showing them photos of my gap-toothed little boy.
I wanted lawmakers to see the human toll of inaction.
It gutted me to watch some of those same lawmakers vote down a background checks bill that might have saved other children like Daniel. But I refused to give up because I knew this moment would come.
With the 2020 elections decided, we have the best opportunity in eight years to finally pass a bipartisan universal background checks bill. But we must reach our $125,000 goal by midnight so we can ramp up pressure on Congress to vote immediately.
Before I go to sleep, with less than three hours left before our deadline, I'm personally asking you to make a donation. We're still falling very short of our goal, so please, can I count on you to give before midnight to protect children like Daniel from gun violence?
Please rush $10, or as much as you possibly can, to Sandy Hook Promise now to pressure the new Congress to pass universal background checks and protect children from gun violence.

It's been eight years since my sweet little Daniel was murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary, and life without him will never get easier. But I will never give up on honoring Daniel – and every life lost to gun violence – by doing everything I can to prevent tragedies before they happen.
Passing universal background checks is a critical step in doing that, and I'm so grateful for your support. Together, we will build a safer world for all children.
Mark Barden (Daniel's father)
