Friend,
Last week, we all witnessed two-thirds of House Republicans vote to overturn the results of a free and fair election. And they did this even after a violent mob stormed the Capitol. The violence they incited, the misinformation they peddled, the voter suppression they support -- and, yes, the gerrymandering that has kept them in power -- are all anti-democratic tactics from a political party desperate to hold onto power.
Sadly, their attempt to overturn the will of voters is the result of a problem that has been festering in our politics for far too long -- and the problem won't go away when Trump leaves office.
The Guardian: "Gerrymandering ... has locked in Republican control of state legislatures even when their candidates win hundreds of thousands fewer votes statewide."

A decade ago, Republican-controlled state legislatures all over the country manipulated electoral maps so severely that the results all but assured their party would win no matter the outcome at the ballot box. Many of the Republicans from those gerrymandered districts then went on to pass strict voter suppression laws and validate misinformation coming from the White House, abusing their office and threatening our democracy.
It's clear that Republicans have been the party of minority rule for some time. And with redistricting beginning again this year, you can bet they'll attempt to use the same playbook to hold on to their ill-begotten power no matter what the voters think.
That's why we're asking for you to double down on your commitment to protect our democracy, team. Your support is critical to powering our movement to end gerrymandering.
If you're able, will you make a donation today to help us keep up our work for voting rights and fair maps through 2021 and beyond?
