Team,

Last week we watched as a sitting president instructed his supporters to forcefully interrupt our democratic process in an effort to overturn a free and fair election. After years of sowing mistrust in our institutions and spreading lies about our elections, the culmination of the president's actions led to a violent insurrection at the Capitol, where lives were lost.

As your elected representatives, it is Congress's responsibility to act in the interest of the American people. President Trump swore an oath upon entering office to serve this country, and it's clear that he has failed at the most important part of his job -- to defend our Constitution. Now it's our job as Congress to act to hold him accountable.

That's why, this evening, I will cast my vote in the House to call on Vice President Mike Pence to use the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office. If the vice president does not use his power under the 25th Amendment to protect our country, tomorrow I will join my colleagues in the House to vote to impeach President Trump.

This is not a partisan decision, team. Removing President Trump from office is the only path forward to show that our democracy and our Constitution are stronger than any one dangerous president. Every moment that Donald Trump continues to hold the office of president, our democracy suffers. We cannot allow this president to serve for another day.

It's an honor to represent you,

Chris Pappas
