Subject: URGENT: Act Now To Prevent Armed Intimidation
|
John,
A new FBI bulletin just made it frighteningly clear that our nation is under imminent threat of more violent attacks. We need to act swiftly and decisively to stop armed intimidation at state capitols across the country.
Guns do not belong in our democratic process, plain and simple.
That’s why Brady is demanding that state legislators immediately ban firearms in legislative buildings to protect our citizens from further violence and death.
Last week, our country was wracked by senseless bloodshed in the nation’s capital. This comes after months of armed protests at legislative buildings across the country, in states like Michigan, Oregon, and Pennsylvania. And if we do not act now, we risk more violence. We cannot allow more innocent lives to be put on the line, John.
We know that banning firearms from legislative buildings can save lives. Imagine, for example, if Washington, D.C., did not ban the open carrying of firearms in public: The bloodshed at the U.S. Capitol could have been far worse. And now, with the FBI reporting that armed protests are planned in all 50 states, we must enact life-saving legislation as soon as possible.
We don’t have much time, John. State lawmakers have the power to prevent further tragedy and stem these nationwide threats. Please, John, join us in demanding state legislators immediately move to ban firearms in legislative buildings. There is no time to waste.
As a united front, we can protect our democracy from armed intimidation. We need you with us now more than ever.
Thank you.
