Yesterday, Ayanna and Ilhan co-led the introduction of articles of impeachment against Donald Trump, to hold him accountable for inciting an attempted coup last Wednesday.
Ayanna also co-sponsored Rep. Cori Bush’s legislation to remove the GOP members of Congress who spread conspiracy theories and set the stage for Wednesday’s violence.
We know that Ayanna’s leadership in the effort to hold Donald Trump, Republican legislators, and their white nationalist supporters accountable is going to make her a target of vitriol from people who resent everything our movement stands for.
Wednesday’s attack showed how dangerous the forces of white nationalism and white supremacy are in our country. We cannot simply ‘move on’ from these events, as many Republicans have suggested. Our country needs action and accountability.
Donald Trump must be impeached and every Republican who promoted the coup attempt should be removed from Congress.
