Donald Trump just doubled down on the incitement of violence, expressing "no regret" for the brutal insurrection.

Dear John,

Donald Trump just gave his first public statement since inciting a violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol that left five people dead.

Once again he expressed no regrets. He even described his actions as "totally appropriate."

Meanwhile, white supremacists are recruiting Trump supporters to show up again in D.C. for Joe Biden's inauguration, and they have announced plans for a coordinated assault on all 50 state capitols.

Today's comments make it clear that Trump is not finished inciting violence and attempting to overthrow the election. He must be removed, now.

The one sign of hope is that some Republicans are starting to heed our demands and support Trump's removal. If we turn up the pressure now, we can remove Trump from office and ban him from running again before any more people are killed.

Please donate now to Inequality Media Civic Action and help push for Donald Trump’s immediate removal as president of the United States.

For days, I've been flooded with questions from friends and people on social media:

Is there even time to impeach and remove Trump from office so close to the end of his term?

Can he be banned from running for office again?

The answers are yes and yes.

First, there's plenty of time to impeach and remove Trump. You’ll recall that the same Republicans saying there’s no time to impeach confirmed a Supreme Court justice just eight days before the election.

If they had acted right away, Trump could be gone already. And the U.S. Constitution even allows him to be convicted after the end of his term, not that they should wait.

In addition, Trump can and should be barred from holding office again under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which prohibits someone who has sworn to support the Constitution from holding any future office if they’re found to have “engaged in insurrection or rebellion against” the Constitution of the United States. That finding could be accomplished by a simple majority vote of both houses, declaring that Trump engaged in an act of “insurrection or rebellion” by encouraging the attack on the Capitol.

We're launching a massive series of social media civics lessons to educate the American people about how the Constitution handles insurrection and sedition and demand that Congress remove Trump from office before any more damage is done to the republic or anyone else is killed.

We're calling for Donald Trump's immediate removal from office. Will you make a donation to Inequality Media Civic Action today?
