Hello,
During the deadly insurrection in the U.S. Capitol last Wednesday, journalists put their lives on the line to make sure people could witness history. Reporters and photographers are a central reason why we saw the decimation of our Capitol in real-time. Their coverage has been a key factor in the arrests of many of the violent attackers already.
Journalists are the bearers of truth. Last Wednesday and in the days since, they have fulfilled their duty to the American people and to our democracy.
There's a reason the freedom of the press is enshrined in the First Amendment, friend. And as we navigate the fallout of last week's attack, I'm thankful for the reporters and members of the news media for their courage to report the truth — not just last Wednesday, but every day.
I hope you'll join me in thanking journalists for their service to the American people. Add your name to our card to thank our local and national media for reporting the truth, no matter the cost.

It can't be overstated that in his four years as president, Donald Trump has demonized and obstructed the press at every turn. Just two years into his presidency, the United States was added to the list of the most dangerous countries for journalists.
These may be Trump's final days in office, but his years of demonizing the press will have lasting and dangerous consequences. As we move forward under a new administration, we must work to heal our country's relationship with the press because freedom of the press is essential to the health of our democracy.
It's an honor to represent you,
Derek
