Folks — Last Wednesday we witnessed a sad and horrific attack on our nation’s Capitol, a blow to our democracy.

After weeks of spreading lies and misinformation about an election he clearly lost, Donald Trump and a number of my colleagues incited a mob to storm the United States Capitol as lawmakers were working diligently to confirm the vote of the people.

This act of terror on our democracy was unprecedented, but not unpredictable.

For far too long, Donald Trump and his Republican enablers in Congress have baselessly challenged the validity of the 2020 election and have demanded the will of the American people be overturned — all to serve their own self-interests.

Thirteen Senators, a number of House members, and the sitting President of the United States have clearly broken their oath to defend the Constitution and have failed to do right by our democracy and the American people.

Folks, I’ve had enough. Donald Trump and his Republican enabler’s must be held accountable. These acts of sedition towards our country are not okay and we must act now.
