Friend,
I remember being in middle school history class and looking at the pictures of all the past presidents of the United States; they all had something in common - they didn’t look like me. As a kid, I didn’t really care but as I got older I began to understand that representation matters.
Thankfully, I’m beginning to see more people like me and with similar immigrant stories in leadership positions. One example is Luisa Santos - a former DACA recipient who is now a U.S. citizen - who recently ran for and won a seat on the Miami-Dade school board. Luisa is now using her position to advocate for undocumented students.
Tuesday January 19th is National Run for Office Day! In honor of the day, we’re hosting a “Run for Something” Webinar at 6 pm EST / 3pm PST. Join us and learn how you can make a difference by running for office and becoming part of the city council, school board, or mayor of your city!
RSVP HERE
We are encouraging underrepresented communities to run for office because our voices and experiences are crucial to creating the world we deserve! If you identify as a woman, BIPOC, LGBTQIA and/or a young person, this is your time to step up and run for office! Sign up here and join us on Jan 19th at 6pm EST to “Run for Something”.
Most people who run for office did so because someone asked them. Maybe you know someone who is (or should be) interested in running for office? Invite them to our webinar and together let’s create leaders who reflect our values.
