Markstein Sales Company combats human trafficking

Markstein Sales Company, a woman-owned and operated beverage distributor in Northern California, has called to business leaders nationwide to join them in the fight against slavery and human trafficking in the U.S. “While our work to end human trafficking began at the local level, this is a national problem that needs all business leaders to stand up and make a difference. I am calling on all companies to get involved locally with groups like New Day for Children and nationally with efforts like those sponsored by the NBWA,” said Markstein President Laura Markstein.

Supreme Court denies review of Lebamoff challenge to Michigan retail delivery laws

The Supreme Court issued an order on Monday denying certiorari in hundreds of cases, including the Lebamoff appeal of their case against Michigan retail delivery laws. Michigan law prevents Lebamoff Enterprsies from shipping alcohol from Indiana to Michigan residents. The Supreme Court's decision to deny review upholds that existing Michigan law.

The rice renaissance

Rice has long held a reputation of being a cheap filler that large commercial beer brands use to water down their brews. Over the last couple of years, however, some of the creative minds in American craft brewing have challenged that notion by making crisp, light, dry beers reminiscent of a Japanese lager. "[Rice] grows everywhere around here, so I thought it would be a good idea to make a rice lager that's indigenous to us," said Chris Miller, co-founder and brewmaster at Berryessa Brewing Co. in Winters, Calif. Ball unveils plans for boosting beverage can production capacity

Ball Corporation has announced plans for a new aluminum end manufacturing facility. The new production site is scheduled to begin construction in 2022 in Bowling Green, Ky. “Our new Bowling Green, Kentucky, facility will provide aluminum end supply to Ball’s expanding North American network of beverage can manufacturing plants,” said Ball executive Colin Gillis.
