Dear Friend,

Last week’s Senate victories in Georgia and the attack on our nation’s
Capitol, and other cities, on 1/6/21 was a reminder that this year we have
more opportunities and greater urgency to fight for a more progressive and
representative California and nation. With your support and engagement,
Courage California is ready.

Now is the time for us to show what our democracy and country are about.
While the attack was deeply rooted in the white supremacist founding and
governing of our nation, the insurrectionists do not represent who we are
now as an overwhelming and diverse majority of people who share values of
equity, justice, and accountability.

With Courage, we can fight together for a government and country that
works for all of us.

Courage California will work to tackle the issues you, our members, have
identified as priorities, from addressing climate change, to advocating
for healthcare for all, to stopping police brutality, to getting corporate
and special interest money out of politics. Our work depends on you and
our ability to communicate efficiently. Which is why we're so excited to
kick off the year with a new website, to help keep you informed and
active!

Our annual Courage Score is a trusted and effective tool for Californians
to hold their State Assemblymembers and Senators accountable. We source
our information from our partners around the state to ensure that our
state legislators pass policies that are most important to all of our
communities. Legislators pay attention to how they score, and Courage and
our partners are able to lobby them based on their scores.

We will launch the 2021 Courage Score in March. In the meantime, visit to
find out who your State Assemblymember and Senator are, see their scores
and voting history, and discover who to hold accountable and who to
celebrate as your champions.

The Courage Voter Guide is California’s only down-ballot, multi-issue
guide that makes recommendations on propositions and candidates that
prioritize people, not profit. It’s an empowering tool for all
Californians who want to ensure that their votes will result in the
maximum positive impact, and move our state and country closer to a truly
representative democracy.

In 2021, we’ll have write-ups for several special elections, and we’ll be
getting ready for the 2022 elections, too.

We believe that, with courage, California can be a beacon of progressive,
equitable, and truly representative democracy. That is only possible with
your ongoing engagement and activism.

Thank you for your support and partnership through the years, and cheers
to what we will do together in a new year!

With gratitude and in solidarity,

Irene, along with Angela, Annie, Caitlin, Deepthi, Jay, Lindsay,
LisaMarie, Molly, Raquel, and Scottie (the Courage team)
