Demand the immediate impeachment of Donald Trump.
|
Friend,
Last week’s violent, attempted coup―incited by this impeached president―was the build-up of years of his inflammatory rhetoric. But this hate-filled violence does not exist in a vacuum.
Trump has a long history of racist fear mongering and weaponizing hate, inciting violence against people who dare question him, especially against women and people of color.
Before even campaigning for the presidency, he used racist “birther” conspiracies against President Obama to stoke flames of violence and division in our country. He’s threatened me and my sisters in service―the Squad―for centering the most marginalized and standing up to his hate.
While campaigning for the presidency, he threatened protesters at his rallies with violence. When he came to the Detroit Economic Club before the 2016 election, I joined brave women in protest, getting thrown out of the event while demanding he read the Constitution.
He and right-wing hate groups have continued to be emboldened as the Republican Party and Trump’s sycophants in Congress have enabled this hate to fester and grow.
Every day Trump remains in office is a threat to our democracy, our national security, and the safety and security of our communities. If he doesn't face consequences for inciting an insurrection against the U.S. and attempting a coup, then someone in the future will try again. That’s why I’m ready to impeach him again.
Join me and sign the petition demanding the immediate impeachment of Donald Trump.
Trump organized the rally that resulted in the violent insurrection. And he called on his supporters to march to the U.S. Capitol, “fight much harder,” and “show strength.”
His call jeopardized the lives of Capitol Police, resulting in the death of a police officer and four insurgents, while jeopardizing the lives of many more, including members of Congress, the Vice President, and the Vice President’s family.
And, as the mob tore apart the Capitol, Trump reportedly watched the failed coup on TV, enjoying himself, while refusing to enlist the National Guard, even as people were injured and died.
Donald Trump is responsible for the violent insurrection, a culmination of his blatant attempts to subvert our democracy and go against the will of the people. He has blood on his hands. He must be impeached.
Join me in calling for the immediate removal of Donald Trump from office. He must be impeached this week. Every day that he remains in office is a threat to our country.
Together, we have impeached this president before. Now it’s time to not only impeach him a second time, but to ban him from ever holding federal office again.
In solidarity,
Rashida
