This week, given the mob attack on the Capitol building, we cannot offer
a traditional Action Update. What happened last week was an attack on
our nation, our Constitution, and for us at the Action Fund, our friends
and colleagues.

Next week, as Vice President Pence said upon the liberation of the
Capitol building from the violent mob, the Action Update writers will
"get back to work," and offer our perspective on the important
policy matters of the days, weeks and months to come.

One of the great honors of working in Washington, with offices just a
block away from the Capitol building, is being afforded the opportunity
to interact with a den of heroes and servants.

They are brave law enforcement officers, who keep us safe every day, and
keep thousands of Americans from across the country protected during the
annual CUFI Washington Summit. They are Congressional staffers who've
come to our nation's capital to serve you, their constituents. They
are the men and women, from colleagues to Congresspeople, who have
chosen to devote their lives to serving our Republic.

Over the years, many of these people, regardless of partisan persuasion,
have become our friends. And, like all Americans of conscience, we
watched the events of last week in horror.

We wish to offer our deepest gratitude to the men and women of the
Washington DC law enforcement community for the sacrifices they make. We
likewise wish to offer our deepest condolences to the friends, family
and loved ones of officer Brian Sicknick, who was murdered as he
defended our government from domestic enemies. We also wish to offer the
same to Howard Liebengood who was serving at the hallowed place at that
horrible time and took his own life this past weekend.

Our prayers are with all those touched by last week's horrific events.

Last week, as the full extent of the riot became clear, CUFI founder and
Chairman Pastor John Hagee released the following statement:

* The events we are witnessing at the Capitol today are an un-American
abomination and a disgrace to our democracy. There is absolutely no
justification for the violence that is transpiring. There is nothing
patriotic about storming our Capitol. There is nothing honorable about
physically attacking our institutions of government.

* Today, my prayers are with the brave men and women of the Washington
law enforcement community and others that are in harms way. May God keep
them safe as they seek to remove the violent individuals that have taken
over our Capitol building. Regardless of how one votes, our loyalty is
first to God and then to country. My prayers are with our troubled
country.

* I hope you all will join me in praying that this darkness is routed,
and that God's love and peace is quickly restored despite this tragic
day.

We join Pastor Hagee in his prayers and hope you will do the same.
