Dear John,
Last summer, tens of thousands of people signed our petition urging Congress to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)—an agency with a long history of human rights abuses.
This week, we’ll deliver the petition to the new Congress! Sign our petition by tomorrow, Jan. 13 to support our call to action.
Over the past year, ICE has jailed tens of thousands of immigrants in detention centers—where COVID-19 cases have surged amid unsanitary conditions and inadequate health care. Just a few months ago, a whistleblower report revealed that nonconsensual hysterectomies were being performed on women detained at a for-profit ICE facility in Georgia. And over the summer, ICE agents were deployed against people taking part in peaceful protests for racial justice across the country.
AFSC supporters like you have spoken up, showing the world just how strong the movement to abolish ICE has become by spreading our petition far and wide. Today, with an incoming presidential administration and the political shift in the Senate, we have a critical opportunity to dismantle ICE—and end its abuses once and for all.
Sign the petition today—support our call to abolish ICE!
We know we have a long road ahead of us in working to abolish ICE. Your voice is crucial as we push for a world where all people are treated with dignity and respect—and the time to speak up is now.
In peace,
Tori Bateman
AFSC Policy Advocacy Coordinator
