Hi John,
The government has agreed a Brexit trade deal - what's next? Similar agreements with countries like the US will be high on their agenda. That's where you come in.
The Trade Bill is going back to the House of Commons. You may not have heard of it, but this Bill could massively influence the way the government handles trade deals in the future - and it could be the difference between us having our shelves flooded with chlorinated chicken and pesticide-laden fruit or not.
Right now, the government could do secret trade deals without being held to account, unless our MPs demand they have a say.
Can you ask your MP to protect food standards and vote to have a say in future trade deals?

Protecting our standards is crucial to our health, animal welfare and our environment. We need to make sure that they are not used as a bargaining chip in trade negotiations. That's why MPs need to have a say in future trade deals.
Can you tell your MP to act, and vote to give MPs the power to scrutinise trade deals and protect our standards?

This vote could be close. It is essential - the more MPs who speak out in the debate, the more pressure the Trade Secretary, Liz Truss, will feel when she's negotiating future trade deals.
There's no doubt about it - things are definitely tough right now as we try once again to get the coronavirus pandemic under control. But the way trade deals are negotiated will have an impact on our lives for years to come, and we need to make sure we get this right.
Thanks for all that you do,
Alia
