"Trump praises his administration's environmental efforts"
-- BBC, July 8, 2019

"'From day one my administration has made it a top priority to make sure America has the cleanest air and cleanest water on the planet,' Mr Trump said."

-----------------------------------------

IS THAT TRUE?

John, Trump's bragging that protecting the environment is his top priority. But we heard him loud and clear in 2016 when he said he'd bring back "beautiful coal," so we weren't just going to take him at his word.

We had to take a look at his record first:

-----------------------------------------

"Trump's rollbacks would increase CO2 emissions by more than 200 million tons annually, report finds"
-- ThinkProgress, March 5, 2019

"Experts largely agree that weakening or dismantling the rules targeted by the Trump administration will make it far more challenging to respond to the climate crisis, all while threatening the health of people throughout the country."

-----------------------------------------

"Trump administration set to ease offshore drilling safety rules created after 2010 BP oil spill"
-- USA Today, May 2, 2019

"Officials estimate the changes will save the oil industry more than $1.5 billion over the next 10 years. But environmentalists said loosening safety standards at offshore wells makes another oil spill more likely."

-----------------------------------------

John, we have to ask: Do you believe Trump when he says clean air and pure water are his "top priority"?
