Dear John,
Last year threw a lot at Arizona — and the entire world. But no matter the challenge, Arizonans time and time again showed just how resilient we are.
I’m especially grateful to all the nurses, doctors, EMTs, educators, police officers, first responders, grocery store workers, poll workers, truck drivers, Arizona National Guard members, and everyone across the state who has stepped up to help one another during the pandemic.
COVID-19 vaccine distribution is ramping up, our economy is moving in the right direction, people are getting back to work, more dollars are going to K-12 schools, and we’ve brought in additional health care heroes at our hospitals.
This year, let’s maintain that momentum. Students need to continue to grow, we need to get vaccines out of freezers and into Arizonans’ arms, and we need to prioritize tax reform to ensure Arizonans and our local businesses keep more of their hard-earned money.
The year of COVID-19 is behind us — 2021 is the year of the vaccine, and the year of continued recovery. But we need to remain vigilant. We must be hopeful for the future — but we cannot forget the challenges we face in the immediate.
