Maggie's List Endorses Young Kim for California's 39th District
An immigrant, public servant and fighter ready to take on D.C.
Washington, D.C. — Maggie’s List, a federal political action committee (PAC) dedicated to electing fiscally conservative women to federal office and statewide executive office, is proud to announce the endorsement of Young Kim for California’s 39^th Congressional district.
As an immigrant to the United States, Young Kim’s unique perspective on the American Dream has led her to devote her life to public service and giving back to her community. A working mother of four, Young started her career as a small business owner and financial analyst. Young Kim began public service in former U.S. Representative Ed Royce’s office over 25 years ago, eventually becoming his Director of Community Operations.
“I’m truly honored by the early and strong support from the conservative women leaders at Maggie’s List,” said Young Kim, a former California State Assemblywoman. “Maggie’s List and I agree that our nation is at a crossroads and we need proven leaders who will promote fiscal conservatism, less government and a strong national security, and that’s why I’m honored to have their endorsement again in our rematch to take back California’s 39th district,” continues Kim.
Young Kim narrowly lost her 2018 congressional bid in one of the tightest, most watched races in the country and is now seeking a rematch with Democrat Gil Cisneros. Kim’s candidacy gives House Republicans the best opportunity to win back a California House seat. As a leader in the Asian- American community, Young has the ability to attract cross-over votes from this key and fast-growing voter base.
“We know that Young Kim will be a force in Washington,” states Sandra B. Mortham, Chairman of Maggie’s List and former elected Florida Secretary of State. “Her experience, commitment to service, conservative values and ability to inspire other women leaders make her an excellent candidate and future representative! She will make sure CA-39 citizens are heard!”
“I am so proud to support Young Kim, I have worked with her in the State Assembly and on local issues. She is one of the most hardworking candidates I have ever met. When she wins, she will go to Washington as one of the first Korean conservative women in Congress. She will bring her free market principles and business savvy with her, she will make Californians proud,” states Maggie’s List California Chair, Teresa Hernandez.

Maggie's List Endorses Amanda Makki for Florida's 13th Congressional District
Qualified, experienced, and ready to lead
Washington, D.C. — Maggie’s List, a federal political action committee (PAC) dedicated to electing fiscally conservative women to federal office and statewide executive office, is proud to announce the endorsement of Amanda Makki for Florida’s 13^th Congressional district.
As an infant, Makki and her family escaped an oppressive religious regime, known for its persecution of non-Muslims and silencing of non-believers, to come to America. With the little resources they could quickly scrape together, they escaped to come to the Land of Opportunity, where anyone with a dream and a good work ethic could become successful. While Makki’s father studied to become a surgeon, her mother was a childcare provider and delivered Yellow Pages to provide the family’s income. Makki witnessed her parents drive to succeed and commitment to the American Dream, which motivated her to start working at the young age of 15.
Her passion for service of people evolved into a passion to serve her country; as a Farsi language speaker, Makki was appointed by the George W. Bush Administration to serve the Army General Counsel at the Pentagon weeks after the September 11 terrorist acts. It was in this role she began to refine her knowledge of foreign policy. Makki went on to serve as senior advisor in both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives, and before the age of 40, became one of the youngest partners at K&L Gates, one of the nation’s premier law firms. While Makki’s work at K&L Gates focused on health care policy, she also was engaged in the firm’s pro-bono efforts providing assistance through Legal Counsel for the Elderly, a leading provider of free legal services.
“Amanda Makki’s background is the perfect mix of legal education, legislative service in multiple federal capacities and healthcare advocacy,” states Sandra B. Mortham, Chairman of Maggie’s List and former elected Florida Secretary of State. “Her willingness to serve and lead will make a lasting, positive impact on Florida, the 13^thCongressional districts’ citizens and Washington.”
“It is an honor to receive the early support of Maggie's List. I am thrilled to be endorsed by an organization that embodies values of strong national security, fiscal conservatism, more personal responsibility and limited government,” states Amanda.
“My parents instilled in me from an early age the importance of individual and fiscal responsibility. Through hard work and self-reliance, we lived the American dream. The American dream my family realized is threatened both at home and abroad. I will never waiver in my commitment to protect and defend each individual's opportunity to achieve the American dream,” continues Makki.
