The President of the United States is a clear and present danger to our nation and democracy, and he should resign or be removed from office, immediately.
It’s staggering. After weeks of spreading false conspiracies and actively seeking to overturn the results of a free and fair election in order to stay in power, he incited a violent mob attack on the Capitol that ended in the death of five people, including a police officer. I was there on the House floor when the mob breached the Capitol at Trump’s direction, and as horrible as it was, it could have been much worse.
The scary part is wondering: what will he do next?
While Trump has finally been suspended from social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook for his dangerous rhetoric, we have to wonder: if this man can’t be trusted to tweet, how can we trust him to fulfil his duties as president over the next nine days without wreaking more havoc?
It’s abundantly clear: we must remove Trump from office now, whether by resignation, the 25th Amendment, or impeachment. Since we can’t trust Donald Trump to do what’s right for the country, only what’s right for Donald Trump, Congress will act.
