John —
House Democrats just introduced an article of impeachment against
disgraced U.S. President Donald Trump for “incitement of insurrection”
against our democracy.
The U.S. Constitution gives the Senate the power to convict the President,
remove them from office, as well as permanently disqualify them from
holding office again in their lifetimes.
Trump would lose his post-Presidential taxpayer-funded travel stipend,
security detail, and personal pension as well.
In order to convict, remove, and permanently disqualify Trump from office,
67 votes in favor are required in the Senate — That means uniting the
Democratic caucus and winning over nearly two dozen GOP Senators.
It is critically important to set a historic precedent: Any elected
official who attempts to overthrow our government will face consequences
and be barred from holding public office.
By holding an impeachment vote and trial, every member of Congress must go
on the record and decide: Will they side with our democracy? Or the armed
White supremacists and terrorists who occupied our Capitol and killed half
a dozen Americans?
We wanted to hear from you: [ [link removed] ]Do you personally believe Trump should be
disqualified from holding public office ever again?
