After years of pressure from constituents and lawlessness from the Trump administration, the impeachment process begins. The news came after a whistleblower broke Trump’s newest abuse of power — leveraging American military aid to Ukraine in exchange for dirt on a political rival, presidential candidate Joe Biden. This is an impeachable offense, and it was committed in broad daylight. We elected a Democratic House in 2018 to hold Trump and his cronies to account for their abuse of power. We are elated to see that promise put into action.

More than 200 Democrats ([link removed][UNIQID]) have stated that they support impeachment, and Speaker Pelosi has finally yielded to the demands of her constituents. Now it is time to thank them and tell them to stay strong in doing their Constitutional duty to check the Trump administration.

Call Speaker Pelosi’s office ([link removed][UNIQID]) at (415) 556-4862 and tell her:

My name is __________. I am a constituent, and my zip code is _______. I am a member of Indivisible SF.

I want to thank Speaker Pelosi for beginning the impeachment of Donald Trump. I’m proud she is exercising her Constitutional duty to check the Trump administration’s crimes against the American people and hold him to account for his administration’s consistent abuses of power.

Power of the Purse Campaign Update: The budget fight in Congress is coming to a close with the passage of Continuing Resolutions. Unfortunately, our MoCs were unable to enact any restrictions on Republicans, and the Republicans’ abuses of power remain largely unchecked. However, thanks to active constituents like you, our MoCs were able to prevent any poison pills from entering the resolutions. Read more about the results of the budget fight, and what to expect in the coming months, on our blog ([link removed][UNIQID]) .

Feinstein co-sponsored the DC Statehood Bill! Thanks to everyone who called about this important issue!

Youth Climate March: Friday’s event in San Francisco, led by our ally organizations Youth vs. Apocalypse and Sunrise Bay Area ([link removed][UNIQID]) , was full of energy! Thank you to our many Indivisible SF members who participated, chanted, and marched.

We the People Rally: Some Indivisible SF members worked to ensure that the We the People Rally this past Saturday was a success ([link removed][UNIQID]) ! The rally had a great turnout… and the Trump Chicken was there.

Impeachment Inquiry: Like we mentioned up top, we’ve been fighting for this for more than two and a half years, along with sister Indivisible chapters; Bay Area orgs like Alameda 4 Impeachment; and national orgs like Indivisible National, Need to Impeach, and By the People. We’ve argued for impeachment sixteen ways to Sunday in our staff meetings with the Speaker, and helped keep impeachment on the public’s mind nationwide. Congratulations to everyone who’s been in the impeachment fight so far—let’s take a moment to be proud of our share of this accomplishment, then keep fighting.
