Friend,

Last week, a mob of domestic terrorists sieged the U.S. Capitol to try to overturn the results of our free and fair election.

This insurrection against Congress was incredibly jarring and upsetting, but it didn’t emerge out of nowhere. It was incited directly by Donald Trump, who has spent the past months making false and destructive claims undermining the results of the election.

And while the mob was violently desecrating the Capitol and attacking Capitol Police officers, Donald Trump refused to take decisive action or condemn or stop the insurrection, threatening the security of the American people and putting our democracy at risk.

There must be accountability for those responsible, and we cannot heal and unite as a nation until action is taken.

Since Donald Trump will not resign, nor is Vice President Pence going to invoke the 25th Amendment, I have signed onto an article of impeachment to be introduced this week.

I do not make this decision lightly. We must show the people of our nation and around the world that our democracy stands strong, and that no one person is above the law.

Sign your name to signal your support for an article of impeachment to hold Donald Trump accountable and prevent further damage to our democracy.
