John,

2020 was a year of big challenges. We want to make 2021 a year of bold solutions.

That's why today we launched our 2021 Global Mayors Challenge -- an innovation competition to identify and accelerate the most ambitious ideas developed by cities and their mayors in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We're looking for cities around the world that are getting big things done.

Can you help us spread the word? Share the news about the 2021 Global Mayors Challenge with your networks:

Here's how it works:

  • The four themes for this year's competition will address the most significant challenges to emerge during the pandemic: Economic recovery and inclusive growth; Health and wellbeing; Climate and environment; Good governance and equality.

  • Cities with populations of 100,000 or more can submit their ideas to mayorschallenge.bloomberg.org until March 21, 2021.

  • Fifty finalists representing the world's leading urban innovations will have access to an expansive program of support to test and refine their ideas.

  • Fifteen grand prize winners will receive $1 million each and robust multi-year support to implement and spread their breakthrough ideas.

Cities around the world are ready for a comeback -- and big, innovative ideas have never been more important. Help us get the word out:
